Canada Summer Job - Community Service Worker -

Job Objective : This position is funded through the Canada Summer Jobs Program. The student/youth will develop an understanding of how to assist individuals and families facing food insecurity.

Responsibilities:

- Do Client Intake of those needing assistance. (Link2Feed Training will be provided)

- Answer phones and queries about Food Bank services

-Do Client intake/hamper preparation for other social agencies calling ahead for pick up.

- Fill in as required in volunteer positions of greeting clients, taking food hampers to clients, creating hampers, sorting food etc....

- Work with other staff and volunteers to

- Perform other duties as assigned.

Skills and abilities:

· Adaptability and willingness to work and fill in as required.

· Physically capable of lifting 40 pounds if needed

· Excellent communication skills, both written and oral

· Good attention to detail, openness and empathetic listening skills

· Ability to work within a team as well as independently

· Strong sense of integrity and confidentiality

· Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and codes of ethics

· Develop an understanding and support for the mission of the London Food Bank

This position is funded through the Canada Summer Jobs Program and the following represents the applicant criteria: 

· be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of the employment;

· be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment;

· have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations;

· Completion of some secondary education;

· Required to be available for 8 week program starting June 10, 2024 or July 2nd, 2024.

· Previous community service is an asset
