Pillar launches online & physical market to Buy Social this holiday season!

Online and in-person, we’re making it easier to buy social this holiday season with the 2017 Social Enterprise Gift Guide & The Meaningful Market.

The holidays are about giving. We buy gifts for our loved ones to show how much we care. Gifts hold a sentimental value. They represent generosity and selflessness.

But what if your gift could give to more than just one person? What if your gift could give a marginalized teen a job? What if your gift could feed a family?

When you buy social, you buy a gift for your community. Social enterprises offer a range of products that will impact your community this holiday season! From stocking stuffers to homewares to clothing and jewelry, there’s a gift for everyone on your list.

Love shopping online?  Check out the 2017 Feature Product Guide or explore all 100+ social enterprises from across Ontario! The 2017 Social Enterprise Gift Guide, a collaborative effort by the Canadian CED Network, Pillar Nonprofit Network and  Le Conseil de la Coopération de l’Ontario, with the support of OSER and financial support by the Government of Ontario. You can buy from over 100 social enterprises across Ontario!

Want to check out products in-person? We’ve got you covered. Pillar Nonprofit Network has created The Meaningful Market, with local vendors selling affordable, quality gifts that give back! The market is on December 6th from 4pm to 8pm—the perfect after work or school activity. As well as the shopping, there will be a social enterprise pitch competition at 5pm from our Accelerator participants, free food catered by Edgar and Joe’s cafe, and a cash bar from London Brewing Co-op! Festive fun for everyone!

Not sure where to start? Your aunt who loves to cook might enjoy a beautiful gift basket filled with market preserves and an array of kitchen items and utensils. Now imagine her face when she learns that beautiful gift basket is providing employment training for underserved youth.  There are hundreds of social enterprises with impact just like Youth Opportunities Unlimited’s in London and all across Ontario!

Whether you want to buy online or in store, make sure you buy social this holiday season: gifts so nice they give twice.
